Leftism is working right now for countless human beings. In Portugal a working class person is taking a four week paid vacation because of leftism. Students in Germany attend college tuition free because of leftism. You can eat food and not get poisoned (usually...lol) because of leftism. A French mother gave birth today and will leave the hospital with no charges and a year of paid maternity leave because of leftism. A Norwegian man fell off a ladder and broke his arm and was treated immediately with no out of pocket expense because of leftism. I'd LOVE to see more leftism here in America, where the poor suffer so much preventable degradation and misery.
On a larger scale, leftism saved this republic twice, and is the only thing that can save it today. We've had mass concentrations of wealth threaten our political system before. The Gilded Age and the roaring twenties. It was the progressive era that saved us from the gilded age. It was the new deal that saved us from Hoover's right wing economics. There are several important historical factors at play here, but as far as today's climate, what we're witnessing is a poorly-educated, hyper-brainwashed citizenry trying to oversee a representative system of government. This is like trying to bake a cake without eggs, flour, water and sugar. You might pull something out of the oven, but I'm not eating it.
There are severe consequences to our near ubiquitous ignorance about history and political science. Americans are easy to manipulate and lie to. They really have no chance to defend themselves from the dark forces of far right propaganda. And so, millions of really stupid morons vote for far right plutocrats thinking they'll help them out. Dear Phil, We've allowed a few giant corporations (Disney, Google, Facebook, etc) and billionaires (Larry Ellison, Elon Musk, Rupert Murdoch) to buy and control most of our media system. These far right political actors have invested heavily in putting forth narratives that deflect us away from their outlandish political power. They make sure most of your political anger is directed away from them and towards powerless scapegoats. Today's right wing scapegoats are immigrants and trans people. So when you lead your politics with a question about gender, you have been led to this question by grifting liars who lie all the time. It sure seems like we are working at the behest of Israel. There is video from the 90s of Satanyahu talking about how he wanted America to invade a whole bunch of Middle Eastern nations like Syria, Iran and Iraq.
Also, the US loves war because it is a great way to transfer money from the poor and middle class (taxes) to the very rich (military contractors). We think ICE is a domestic terrorist organization designed to crush the left violently and deport as many black and brown people as possible in the interest of furthering a white supremacist political project by the far right. We also think ICE will be used to crush protests and help these far right traitors stay in power if an election doesn't go to their liking.
